Island Naissaar ferry timetable  and excursions

Island Naissaar ferry timetable consists of two schedules. The first  is the ferry timetable for Naissaare and Aegna cruises, where two way tickets are ~20% cheaper than the tickets in the  on way ferry tickets timetable at the end of the page. In both schedules, you can also buy a bicycle transfer, a car excursion, a food/picnic package or a train ride together with the tickets.

As part of a day cruise, the time spent on Naissaar is only five hours. Naissaar is 9 km long and 4 km wide, the length of the coastline is 22.97 km. In order to get the most out of your five-hour visit to the island, we offer various options.

– It is possible to get to know the island on a combo tour lasting about three hours, either by SUV with a small group or by van.

While tours are traditionally made either to the forts in the north or to the mine depots in the middle of the island, with the combo tour you can see the north, middle and west coast of the island.

– You can rent bicycles and explore the island on your own. The hiking trails map of the Naissaare Nature Park is helpful for getting to know the island.

– And of course you should definitely try the train ride on Naissaar!

The tour is approximately 20 km long with a safari SUV and a comprehensive tour with a guide in four stops, with a maximum time of ~3 hours.

The first stop is about six kilometers from the harbor at the northern tip of the island and a kilometer-long walk at the Peter the Great sea fortress with the opportunity to walk through the passages and climb the walls.

When you leave the church, you will see the Star Fort from the time of the Northern War and Lõunaküla harbor on the road. In 1939, more than 100 Coastal Swedes lived in the southern village, which is now just a large meadow with apple trees.

The fourth stop of the tour is in Männik village, where there is an ideal place for a picnic, under the roof with tables and benches, Merikotka cafe, Rähnipesa bar

Across the street from the cafe is the Naissaare War Museum and a locomotive depot with a sea mine shell wagon, and a fully renovated Soviet-era TU-6 locomotive with a wagon that makes trips from Männiku to the harbor.

Excursions on Naissaar

We will return to the port from Männik by truck, but if you want to stay longer at Männik, you can also come to the port by hiking for ~30 minutes using a hiking map.

From July 2019, you can travel by train again on the historic narrow-gauge railway in Naissaar, because the Viimsi Rannarahva Museum has restored 3.5 km of railway and renovated the train as well. The drive between Männik village and the port takes about half an hour.

The minimum price of €50 is divided between up to 5 participants, each additional person is €10 extra. Children up to 5 years old are free if accompanied by a parent. Payment is made in cash, because it is not known how many people interested in the train ride will gather.

The price includes a one-way train ride with the historic locomotive TU-6A from the port to Männik village or from Männik to the port.

Männiku, a former officers’ village, is the center of village life on the island, with two shelters with grills, two café-bars and a wagon sauna.

The direction of the boxcar is the same as on the train, but as a bonus we make a bigger circle with the boxcar and stop at St. Mary’s Church.
